Spatial data infrastructure (SDI) is the back bone of organizations' spatial information management. From global, through national, until corporate level of organizational hierarchy. For geoinformation professionals it is imperative to understand the fundamentals on which such infrastructure is built on. Moreover, for geoinformation and information analysts and technicians, it is inevitable to master the technology that supports spatial information management.

The objective of the course is to introduce participants to the principles of the spatial data
infrastructure and more specifically, to the three fundamental construction blocks of every spatial data infrastructure: standards, policies and technology. The course is technology oriented and the mode of execution is a hands-on practice built on profound theoretical
background. The technology used in the course is compliant with Open Standards for geo-web and the practical exercises are executed in Free and Open Source Geo Software.
